Tayden has only had 60ml of very watered down water with a touch of apple juice to drink and that was under protest and has taken the whole day basically to get into him. At the moment he is with Rob in the shower and i have told Rob to try and squirt some water in his face like a game, maybe he will swallow some! From 260Ml+ to a measely 60ml...very upsetting and disappointing.
All the other parents on the program feel very sorry for us and have offered their own various milk supplies, not realising that he doesn't want anything but pediasure. The Prof reckons that he will eventually start drinking something else - my question was when since it is not happening as yet 24hr later and the response was that my son is very stubborn and it could take days. Not a good enough answer, especially since l have seen Tayden hospitalised at least half a dozen times with dehydration due to failure to drink.
We have offered Tayden just about every type of milk and drink known to man. He doesn't want anything and the heart breaking thing is that he points to his little NUK bottle that l gave him the Pediasure milk in and when l try to offer him an alternate milk he just turns away. As l have been told many times, my little man is not stupid and he knows it isnt the same, he can TASTE it is different and he doesnt want it!
And this is where God works in mysterious ways. As some of you might know, Rob works for a courier company -. JRT Enterprises. I sent them a frantic sms this morning after Rob and l deciding that Tayden cannot go on like this and we are not going to jepodise the whole program for a tin of milk! I sms'ed in a panic and they rose to the occasion, as did my mom who dropped the tin of milk at their offices. The guys at JRT have moved heaven and earth for us and called in favours near and wide...and our tin of Pediasure will be here on Saturday morning, if all goes well. I felt so sorry for Phil, he phoned me to tell me that he is arranging everything and not to stress and here he gets me crying over the phone to him, l was just so relieved and grateful. So to Phil, Greg, Miles and the staff at JRT...you guys rock! Mom, thank you that you like moms everywhere responded to my emergency, we owe you big time!
...and then l checked my blog and got the surprise of my life! An angel, let's call her 'Miss A' wrote on my blog that she would cover the cost to get the milk to Graz for me. Miss A, you truly are an angel! I know that you have a little one of your own so you can imagine how l feel, being here and away from home and so close to getting everything together and then this! Thank you for your kind offer, it is times like this that people just need to look around them and see the good in the world and the absolute miracles that happen when we least expect them. Thank you again Miss A, God bless and a big hug for your little one who is hopefully eating you out of house and home in CPT!
We have been trying to trick our little man into getting fluid into him like we did before the peg - a sip of juice from mom (not working), very watered down cereal, some custard etc and he is okay for now but he breaks my heart when he points to that NUK bottle and then turns away.
He did chew on some pizza tonight and ate some spaghetti bolognaise in Speech therapy so we are hoping this will carry his weight tomorrow as we would hate to have to remove the peg when he is down weighwise.
So yes, tomorrow is our big day, the peg is coming out, we cant believe it....
Thanks again to JRT Enterprises & Miss A, Tayden, Rob and l all owe you a big vote of thanks. God bless you.
Over and out from Graz, let's hope Saturday comes quickly....
PS. It is now 9pm, 2hr after l wrote this last post above. We have been watching Tay be very itchy, irritable and now his face has swollen and gone all red - turns out that this dairy allergey we thought was a thing of the past is rearing its ugly head - he has had an allergic reaction to one of the milks or dairy products that we have been offering him today, or it is the combination of them we are not sure but the Dr says definitely an allergic reaction. So we have had to give him antihistimines through his peg and see what happens and how he is in the morning. Has been very grumpy and rubbing his eyes and face for the most of the day - and l thought he was tired! Some mother l am!!!!!
