We will still be here for the morning as we have play picnic again at 12:00 and this is so important for Tayden - to be around other kids that eat and drink (or who are also learning) and to see that it is in fact normal to eat and drink needs to be reiterated on a dails basis not only today but everyday for a long time.
We are so grateful to all the staff here at the Kinderklinik for all they have done for us. From the nurses, doctors, therapists and even the lunch lady we chatted to each day and so enthusiastically translated the lunch choices for us, thank you all!
To be honest, we had our hearts set on taking Tayden home peg free, but had NO IDEA that the program would work so soon and relatively stress free for us. Speaking of stresses, we got a call from a courier company in London yesterday, our package has been flown to Graz last night and our little boy can enjoy his Pediasure later today! Yay!
Some of Tayden's friends have already left and are home, settling into their routines. Tay's little friend Leoni, from the Bavarian region in Germany, left yesterday. She had pH tests done before she left, as we did with Tayden at Red X, to see if she is refluxing and how bad it is. We are hoping and praying it will be able to be controlled by medication, she has already been through so much. To Manueala & Ralf, good luck and remember - PE is not that far!
Niklas also left for him yesterday with his mom Tanja. It is sad that while the program is specifically meant to tube wean a child, children are sometimes also sent for a day or a while to ensure that they are eating sufficiently. Niklas had apparently not gained any weight since last year and after 10 days of assessment it was decided that he is in fact not eating enough to sustain himself and grow. So, while we celebrate Tayden's peg removal, Tanja, Mikhel and Niklas will be coming back to the Kinderkliniek and having a peg inserted on 1st Nov. We do wish you all the best for Niklas and although the peg caused many issues for us, we are still thankful to it as it kept our previous little man alive when he was unable to eat and sustain himself.
We are looking forward to next week where we continue with Tayden's therapies, specifically with OT and Speech Therapy. Tayden will be looking forward to his swimming sesssion with Eva and his music lesson which he absolutely loves. Perhaps we will have some more 'outdoor training' with Eva next week? Who knows!
The peg area is looking fine, this morning we will replace the plaster but we have had no problems whatsoever and we are sure it will continue this way.
We look forward to spending the weekend at the B&B, letting Tayden get out and see the animals that are there and jsut enjoy being free. We are eager to see how he manages without the peg in a 'normal' situation and we are DEFINITELY hoping that the nightmares will now come to an end, he is really suffering with those!
Tayden has just had this breakfast delivered by a nurse coffee, juice, nutello, ham, bread, cheese, a piece of apple and a sucker! I had better go oversee this, as l have a feeling l am going to be cleaning up alot of things off the floor soon!
