Weight: 13.2kg
Height: 90.2cm
Well, to say that I am chuffed with these results would be a major understatement! Wow! Tayden is improving in leaps and bounds and we are so thankful for this!
For those of you who may not have known, Tayden had his three month “check up” at the paediatrician today. Every maximum three month period Tayden gets weighed and measured to see how he is progressing and to ensure that we actually ARE making progress, that he is putting on weight, looking healthy and growing in height. May sound a bit bizarre for those of you who never see the inside of a paediatrician’s office but it is an important part of Tayden’s journey to plot how he is doing and how he is progressing. This progress will help us to determine when he is coping well enough on his own to contemplate removing his feeding peg.
I have been very excited about this upcoming paed appointment for a while, sure in the knowledge that we are going to get good news. And I wasn’t disappointed – God continues to be good to us!
Our paediatrician says he has NEVER seen Tayden look as good as he is now, his eyes are sparkling, he is laughing and happy and full of games. Dr P got a big hug and kiss upon our arrival after which Tayden settled down to play in his office after demanding “his” pigs with which to play! Amazing how he knows exactly where those pigs are and it is always the same toys that he plays with when we go there!
Tayden’s peg looks good without any issues, he is growing in height, he is putting on weight (although admittedly not as much as I thought he would but I am more than satisfied), he is happy, content and looking better than we have ever seen him. His muscles are apparently very impressive and well formed in his calves and thighs, much to my amusement and Dr P’s amazement. Must be that little black bike that is giving him all those muscles! Our paed is ecstatic with the progress and cannot believe what a big boy “his” boy has become (it always amazes me how many dads Tayden seems to have…LOL…since everyone refers to Tayden as their boy!)
Every year we give our paed a Christmas gift just to say thank you for always being there, assisting us when needed, for not letting Rob and me lose the plot etc!, and it is tradition now that it is droewors and Woolies biscuits. Tayden was on top form this afternoon and walked around with the droewors packet, gave it back to Dr P, smiled sweetly and pointed at the packet telling him, “Tay eat!” (I was so embarrassed I nearly died! Giving a present and then having your child demand it back!!!!) The paed took it in his stride and the next thing both he and Tayden were munching away droewors! To say that I have waited forever to see my child so relaxed and happy is an understatement!
So that is the update for today, a good one with which to start the weekend! Yes there is still work to be done and he is nowhere near being ready to be weaned as yet, on average drinking 240ml a day, but you know what…he is doing so well!
As Dr P said, for the first time in 4 Christmases, we can actually relax, take a break and enjoy our boy! He is well, happy and growing into a delightful child with the cutest little personality! And as for the other issues…well, we will just put them on hold and deal with the next year!
Here’s to granny, Dr P, Dr G, Tayden’s surgeons, Jill & Bruce, Louisa & John and all our other family and friends who have seen us through a difficult year! Guys…it has paid off, our boy is looking wonderful!

Tayden and Leo - inseparable! We had to put him in the tumbledrier last week again when he took a tumble down the toilet! A lot of dettol, a good hot wash cycle and a lot of prayer that he wouldnt fall apart! Last night we had to "dettol" Thomas the Tank Engine after Tayden threw him down the toilet too!
