Weight: +-13.5kg – definitely down
Favourite Foods: Nothing at all
Tayden has been rather ill this past week, with a bad throat infection and croup like cough. It all started last Thursday when we went to the shop and he vomited in Roman’s Pizza much to our surprise as we had no warning (and no, don’t laugh, it was not fun! Those poor people who were trying to enjoy their food! Eish!). Since then, he just shut down with his eating and on Monday I took him to the paed and he was diagnosed with the above. As usual, he has done a whole shutdown and simply refuses to eat at all and drinking is also non existent. I spent the weekend cooking up a storm Tayden style – masses of veggies, rice, roast chicken, pancakes, flapjacks, mince, pasta…you name it and he ate – 2 spoons of yoghurt! Sigh.
This is a problem for us trying to get in kj but
luckily we do have the peg. Once again this was our saving grace as there was nothing going in orally and without it, we would definitely have been admitted. Unfortunately we hit a snag that every bit of fluid we put it came out for almost 24 hours…almost as if it hit his tummy and straight up again, both vomiting and gastro so we added that to
the throat infection and cough. Very frustrating for us and so sore for him. We are now on day 4 of his antibiotic and I am still not seeing a major change at all, in fact his cough seems to be worse. I am not used to just seeing my child lieing on a couch watching TV or sleeping for hours on end. This is so not Tayden it is quite scary. We are hoping and praying that antibiotics are going to kick in– and soon!
I am busy consulting with a new dietician for Tayden, to see what is up and how (and if) we need to increase kj or fluids or both for him to grow. He is still tiny and with his 4th birthday approaching fast, the paed told us to see her for a second opinion. Tay is now 93cm (I think I posted last time
he was 96cm but got the report from paed and was not pleasantly surprised!) and weighs about 13.5kg at the moment, although after this week of not eating properly it could be much less.
For those of you who have requested some recent pics of Tayden, below find some of the last couple of weeks, including a before and after on the hair cut front!
