Well, prepare to be amazed as you read this! Robert and I nearly keeled over from shock when we completed calculating Tayden's daily fluid intake on Sunday night.
He managed to drink a whopping 750ml on his own on Sunday and we are totally blown away!!! Well done my boy! Needless to say, he went to bed without any tube feeds through the night!
To others, this may not seem as much of an achievement but for those of you who have been following Tay's blog you will know that a year ago we could only dream of such miracles!
Tayden is definitely feeling much better and each day we witness the progress and send up a silent prayer of thanks for the amazing little boy in our lives. We still have a doctor's appointment on 12th August to discuss the hernia and the way forward there, as well as the replacement of the hideously huge g-tube for the smaller flatter and less conspicuous mickey.
Must admit we are not too concerned if we have to fix the hernia, we need to replace the g-tube as said so we will do it in one go, hopefully within the next couple of weeks.
After this awe-inspiring drinking on Sunday, I was eager to see how he progressed yesterday...
As you know boys will be boys and if it is one thing l have learnt about Tayden, it is that if he is not interested in doing something, he wont. Needless to say, drinking was not top of his list of priorities for the day and he managed 160ml on his own. Upset? Us? Not at all. I actually laughed when l calculated it, had an idea he is going to sneak a move like this on us just when we thought we had him all figured out!
So all in all things are going very well! He is eating like a champion today, having finished a full breakfast of porridge, lunch of chicken drumstick and most of a hotdog roll with a yoghurt thrown in for good measure. What more can a mom ask for?
