It has been quite a while since I have last updated Tayden’s blog but I thought that is was time for everyone to hear how well he is doing!
Tayden has had a tough last 2-3 months with a lot of pain in his peg area and I have been going back and forth to the paed and a surgeon trying to figure out what it is. In the end, I was told that the only way we would be able to see what was up was to do an ultrasound – which then in the end the surgeon wouldn’t do due to it being traumatic for him as he would have to be sedated! My point - what about all the trauma he is experiencing on a daily basis due to the pain he is in? Needless to say as a mom l was not happy as I have my child crying in pain and his whole little personality changing due to the amount of pain and discomfort he was in daily.
I was not willing to leave it there and then consulted with another surgeon from CPT that we have used before and he agreed that something
was not right and took Tayden into theatre. It turned out that Tayden’s mickey was faulty (although it was still working) and the inside of his stomach wall was raw and inflamed due to it rubbing against it. Shame, my poor boy was in so
much pain! But at least we could find the problem and deal with it.
It is now 2wk since the surgery was completed and I have my old cheerful, giggling and highly mischievous boy back! He is enjoying his littleplaygroup that he attends 3 mornings a week and is very excited to be the Baker at school next week, for the very first time! For me, this is so awesome, to have my little man interested in food and wanting to help me make it! Tayden will often help me in the kitchen, make muffins or scrambled eggs etc.
He is still doing his OT and Speech therapies, and is
up to 7 word sentences at a push now. Tay is more talkative and just loves singing in the car, which means that car trips for me are very special….hearing my little man singing along to Barney…I just love it!
His drinking is still not great at all, some days we have less than 100ml but other days we celebrate as he hits the 500ml mark! We are just so blessed and Tayden is coming along in leaps and bounds!
So although we are still nowhere near taking the mickey out, Tayden is progressing well and his therapists and teachers are very pleased with his progress. He is also socializing a bit more easily, not getting quite as stressed out with other kids but we take it one day at a time.
I have included some recent pics of him below for you to see.
Please let me know if you are still following this blog…or whether I am writing to myself! LOL!

This was taken as we got him ready for theatre. They ended up replacing his mickey with a new one and cutting away some extra skin that was oozing at the peg site. You can see he is still quite perky. in fact, he wasnt even upset to be in hospital, he was upset that "his" room was occupied and we had to go to another! LOL!
