Last night he actually ate - like a champ for him anyway! A good half a small bowl of cereal and if anyone didn't know the whole story and was just looking in, they would say he was fine. But this is a BIG "wow" moment for us, something that should be an everyday, no make that every meal event. And once again, it was with a smooth food, bring anything with textures near him and he won't touch it.
I often ask friends with children the same age how much and what their kids eat, not to compare but rather to know basically what the bench mark is. I refuse for Tayden to be eating - on occasions when we are lucky - only smooth foods. He must be able to enjoy a boerewors roll like his friend Aden or be able to chew pasta like his little friend Morgan in Cape Town or like Addy enjoy chocolate and anything her heart desires. We must reach the stage where he eats anything, like a piece of fruit, meat, piece of bread etc. And with Graz, and the support there, we will get him eating properly and most importantly actually drinking as well. It is over a year now since he last drank and although frustrating and heart breaking, I know it is now only 14 weeks til we start dealing with this in earnest!
We are definitely making progress with him, although it is a long road still to go and I do believe that Graz is the answer for us. His drinking is still non existent and although he walks around with his sippi cup and looks as if he is drinking, it is in fact not the case.
I am waiting feedback from the Professor in Graz who emailed me and asked me for a video clip of Tayden eating. So let's see what she says...
Funds are still a major issue and we are hoping that somewhere out there, is a good Samaritan who is able to assist us, or even a person who is willing to donate a small amount, as every cent truly does count!
But all in all a good day yesterday for Tayden although once again I must tell him that you cannot live on smooth Caramel cereal alone for over a year now - but it is a great start and mommy is proud of you!
