Home at last! It is so great to be home and Tayden’s joy at seeing granny and his favourite aunty Raleen was awesome! I was carrying him through the airport when he spotted granny and then it was a major fight to get down to try and get to her….even though l was headed in that direction!!!!
Tayden was the belle of the ball yesterday with the whole family enjoying seeing him eat for the first time. He sauntered around with his little NUK bottle taking a swig every now and again and was straight into granny’s cupboards to see what interesting things there were to eat! He didn’t disappoint and ploughed his way through his favourite Pombar chips, telling granny insistently BAR! BAR! on the way in the car as she was feeding him. Had to explain that the chips were call Pombar chips and then we had a good giggle!
The nightmares are still continuing and we hope that they will settle down as he gets into his little routine at home again. He slept well though and crawled into our bed at about 5.30am and I got up to get him something to drink and make us some coffee, only to return and find both Rob and Tayden fast asleep!
Today I am thinking so much of all the other kids and wondering how they are doing. Patrick is apparently doing well, his mom said that he ate an amazing 200ml of pureed veggies this morning – how amazing is that!!!! Way to go Patrick! Your mommy is so proud of you! When we left Christina at Frankfurt airport on Sunday, she was guzzling her way through up to 60ml of gravy (yes gravy?!) at a time and enjoying each teaspoon. We hope and pray that Niklas, Hannah, Felix, Leoni, Nico, Jason and all the other tube weaned kid are also doing well!
Tayden has eaten well today, including an egg, cereal, some carrots, piece of butternut and a small baby potato but the drinking is way down. I am telling myself not to get stressed about his drinking but there is a little voice at the back of my mind that says maybe I shouldn’t have been so quick in taking the peg out – but then I look at him strutting around and showing everyone it is “gone” and I realise it is the best thing we could have done for him!
I know he will have good days and bad days – maybe he is just tired of the various liquids we are offering him – so it is time to explore new tastes…and an excuse for mom to shop!
Weight today: 11.5kg
